Shawshank Sol

Published in Miscellaneous by Sólstafir
I've had a friend staying at my apartment for about six days in a row, and we've been watching a lot of movies together. Both old and new ones. Yesterday we were in the mood for a comedy so we decided to watch one of the funniest movies ever made, Schindler's List. It was the special edition, directors cut with 20% more Nazis! But when we were going through the bonus material I was very much bummed out by the fact that there were no Bloopers/ Outtakes. Can't have it all I guess.

Then we watched another personal favourite of ours, The Shawshank Redemption. I know that I'm not the only one who consider this to be one of the best movies made in the 20th century, but it does seem to be a bigger hit within the male-community, and I'm not really sure why it's not equally popular with the women. Because when you think about it, this movie has everything! It has suspense, tales of friendship and comradery, good guys and bad guys, intrigues, violence and finally... romance.

Sure, most women will disagree on the last part and try to argue that the scene in the boiler room with Andy Dufresne and "The Sisters" is not to be considered as "romance". They just see it as a group of men trying to rape a fellow inmate, but I see it more as an "attempt of un-conscented sodomy", and why shouldn't that be allowed to be construed as romance?! I really don't know sometimes...

But it's funny how some movies can have such a deep impact on ones life, some of them can really change your life and alter the way you look at the world. My consception of "Reality" drastically changed after watching the Matrix. Like, let me give you an example. Have you ever had a dream that felt so real, that you couldn't know for sure if you were awake or if you were sleeping... and then suddenly wake up because you pissed the bed? I know I have.
